No, this is not something created by Simpons writers although it's frighteningly close. Rather, the Tampa Bay Rays decided the best way to get fans to cheer for their team is via a 6-foot tall black cat dressed up like an inner city gang member with a cowbell around his gold chain. Or, as DJ Kitty (yes, that's really his name) would probably say: "Get those Rays fan homeys straight crunk about giving mad props to my G's playin' on the field." We'll be sure to keep you posted on any federal discrimination and/or ASPCA lawsuits that come of this.

I like how the author tags things that have nothing to do with the story as well; Longoria? What does the third baseman have to do with a new mascot? And yes, as "Acutal Rays Fan" wrote, if the author had ever been to a Rays game, he or she would know this is just expanding on one of the most popular jumbotron segments at the games. Of course its doubtful this 'author' even lives in the area or has half a clue about Rays games.

If you went to any Rays games you would know that youtube video plays on the jumbo tron all the time and the fans love it! DJ Kitty is awesome! Go to the freakin game and you will know what's up. You just sound like an outsider

So you assume that anyone with hip-hop style must be a gangster from the inner city. I believe the author is the one stuck in a 90s trailer park screaming "white power". Pathetic reach for a non-story.

Umm, did you happen to notice that the cat is also half-white? In fact, to me it looks like a white cat wearing chaps and a zorro mask. Oh, maybe you thought it was racist against Mexicans? Or Whites? Or maybe you think the Rays are making fun of Gay white men that dress up as Zorro on Halloween?

You're missing a major component here... that the mascot is based of a popular character from a youtube video. Do your research.

Maybe I'm not as politically correct as the author of this article, but I don't see anything overtly racist here... Maybe I'm missing something.
when I saw the cowbell, the first thought I had was the SNL skit with Will Ferrel. -

I'm sorry, how exactly is the cat "dressed up like an inner city gang member"? Pretty sure the racism's coming from your end, not the Rays'.
